The City of Thousand Oaks California, (or “T.O.” as it is called by locals) is nestled against the Santa Monica Mountains and surrounded by more than 14,800 acres of natural publicly owned open space. It is home to excellent schools, outstanding parks, and myriad shopping opportunities. This family-oriented community of 128,000 is often named one of the safest cities for its size in the nation. Location: Located in between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, in Ventura County. Thousand Oaks is 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean and approximately 40 miles from Los Angeles. Ski & Snowboard resorts, such as, Big Bear and Mammoth Mountain are just a short drive away for those who enjoy the snow. 

Climate: The region boasts a mild, year-round Mediterranean Climate and has slightly cooler temperatures than the surrounding areas, due to cooling ocean breezes that travel over the mountain passes.

Recreation: The natural acreage in Thousand Oaks California contains 75 miles of trails for hiking, biking, or leisurely walking. While this huge open space surrounds the community with nature, the world class Thousand Oaks Civics Arts Plaza is another source of local pride. 

Dining & Entertainment: Believe it or not, Thousand Oaks California boasts the largest auto malls in the nation.  The Oaks Mall is centrally located in Thousand Oaks and offers anchor stores such as Macy’s, J.C. Penny, Nordstrom, Muvico and The Cheesecake Factory. If you’re looking for steak, there are two wonderful options, Bandits Grill & Bar and Mastro’s. Bandits Grill & Bar is a local favorite with incredible grilled foods and homestyle side dishes that will leave you craving more. Mastro’s is a high-end steak house that is an institution and continues to deliver. Across the street from Mastro’s, you will see The Lakes at Thousand Oaks shopping center. The Lakes is a Caruso Affiliated center with the likes of California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang, Umami and the popular Sunlife Organics. Borderline and Tipsy Goat are some of the local watering holes with dancing, pool, darts and full bar.
